Abstract
Gonadotropin hormone is a hormone that affects the reproductive process. Gonadotropin hormones include FSH and LH. The optimal FSH and LH are able to stimulate follicle growth in a fairly short time and will increasing the number of egg production, this is due to follicle developing and ovulating increased. FSH acts in the early stages of follicular growth, while LH acts on the pre-ovulatory follicles. Normal follicular growth is the result of the complementary action of FSH and LH. Low FSH and LH levels will result in the formation of follicles and result in not producing eggs by chickens. This study used blood serum from 20 samples of 54 weeks old Isa Brown strain which divided into 5 group. Hormone levels were measured using the ELISA method. The research data were processed using the Manova test. The results of this study indicated that the levels of FSH and LH were significant to the frequency of laying eggs of the Isa brown strain of laying hens (p <0.05). It can be concluded that the levels of FSH and LH affect the frequency of laying eggs of the Isa brown strain.
