Abstract

Background. Hypertension is one of cardiovascular disease that has effect in oral health. A theory mentions that there is a relationship between hypertension and periodontal diseases. However, there are just few researches about releationship beetwen of hypertension and bone loss. This study will observe and analyze the level of bone loss in men with hypertension by periapical radiographic parallel technique and clinical examination using periodontal probe. Purpose. To see the different value between radiographic image bone loss’ level and clinical examination using periodontal probe in patients with hypertension. Method. There is a group of sample, men with hypertension at 20-40 years old, which consist of 30 peoples to be taken the image of periapical radiographic parallel technique and to be measured in clinical examination using periodontal probe in lower jaw posterior regions to see bone loss’ levels. Result. There are significant differential of bone loss’ level between radiographic measurement and clinical examination using periodontal probe. Conclusion. Bone loss’ level in radiographic image is greater than in clinical examination using periodontal probe among hypertension patients
