Abstract
This research aims to know the correlations between the Indonesian box turtle turtle SCL with the male reproductive aspects such as the testes weight and diameter and the histology of the seminiferous tubule. Six turtles were used as sample with different SCL sizes around 13cm and taking both testes. The turtle used in this research was collected by local hunters from Central Java and were sold as pets in Surabaya. The SCL and Bodyweight of the turtle were measured and the testes were collected and its weight and diameter were also measured. The Indonesian box turtle in this research is euthanized using chloroform via per-inhalation method. The histology of seminiferous tubule of the Indonesian box turtle is observed, the diameter were measured and spermatogenic cells were counted. The result of testes weight, testes diameter, seminiferous tubule diameter, and spermatogenic cell count measurement was analyzed with Pearson correlation and ANOVA regression, showed that there is a correlation between the Indonesian box turtle SCL sizes with all the testes parameters with high correlation value. There is some difference in morphometry and topography of the Indonesian box turtle testes between SCL under 15cm and 15cm above. There is also some distinct appearance of testicular histology structure of the Indonesian box turtle based on SCl sizes. High correlation value between SCL and all the testes parameter indicating that the SCL could be constant predictor on The Indonesian box turtle reproduction state.
