Abstract
Background: Tooth Methods Coronal Index is an age estimation methods on mandibular posterior teeth by using a mathematical formula. This method is based on the relationship between chronological age and size of the pulp. Pulp size indicates the number of secondary dentin formation so that it can be used as a parameter determination of age. Radiographic picture that can be used to support the method of TCI is a panoramic radiographic and radiographic periapikal.Tujuan: This study aims to determine the difference between the results of radiographic panoramic and periapical in age determination using TCI. Methods: Measuring two premolars and molars of the lower jaw through panoramic and periapical radiographic picture. The first part is the measured height is measured from the crown where the cemento enamel junction to the highest crown cusps of vertically (coronal height - CH). The second part is the height measured coronal pulp which is measured from the cemento enamel junction to the ends of the pulp horns vertically (coronal pulp cavity height - CPCH). Crown height and height of the coronal pulp was measured using a digital caliper with an accuracy of 0.01 mm. Then, the estimated value of age put into a formula TCI = CPCH x 100 / CH. The measurement results will be compared between the radiographic panoramic and periapical. Results: There is a difference panoramic and periapical radiographic results in age determination using TCI. Conclusion: The results prove periapical radiographs have a chronological age difference value with a biological age that is smaller than the panoramic radiographs.
