Abstract

One of the treatment of infectious diseases is by using antibiotics correctly. Knowledge about antibiotics is needed to make the therapy effectively and prevent the antibiotic resistence. The aims of this research was to know the profile of public knowledge about antibiotics and its use in the Southern Surabaya. This research was descriptive studies using cross sectional approached. Instruments used to collect data research were questionnaires. The number of samples used in this study were 100 respondents who came to the pharmacies at Southern Surabaya with inclusion criteria were people who bought antibiotic with or without a prescription or ever used antibiotics, the people who live in the Southern Surabaya, people who are willing to fill out questionnaires, and the people who aged ≥ 20 years old. Sampling was conducted by accidental sampling at a pharmacy in each district are included in the Southern Surabaya.
