Abstract

The purpose of this research was determine the effect of egg yolk diluent of various poultries such as chickens, quails, and ducks in combination with green tea extract for quality Sapudi sheep spermatozoa were measured in motility, viability and intact plasma membrane that was stored on cold temperature (4-5oC). The semen was devided into four groups : egg yolk citrate diluent, green tea extract in egg yolk citrate diluent, green tea extract in quail egg yolk citrate diluent and green tea extract in duck egg yolk citrate diluent. Spermatozoa quality was observed day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4 and day 5 after diluent. The data obtained was analyzed with the analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's Multiple Range test (DMRT). The result showed that the higest precentage of motility, viability and intact plasma membran were obtained from green tea extract in duck egg yolk citrate diluent on the first day of storage which were 88.00±2.74, 92.80±1.64, and 70.60±3.21. The lowest precentage of motility, viability and intact plasma membrane were obtained from egg yolk citrate diluent on the fifth day of storage which were 25.00±3.54, 45.60±7.23 and 25.20±4.66. It can be concluded that duck egg yolk citrate diluent with the addition of green tea extract be able to maintain the quality of Sapudi sheep sperm stored at 4-5oC for 5 days.
