Abstract
COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus, this virus belongs to the same virus family as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The COVID-19 outbreak first occurred in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in Desember 2019. WHO declared the COVID-19 pandemic on Maret 11, 2020. The death rate due to this virus is 2.7%. One of the factors that can increase deaths from COVID-19 is air pollution and individual characteristics. The aim of this literature study is to analyze air pollution and individual characteristics as risk factors for death from COVID-19. The design of this study is a literature review, namely a literature study that is used as a reference for research materials by summarizing information, analyzing and synthesize various sources. This study summarizes the literature conducted around the world. The data collection method starts from conducting searches from several sites such as Science Direct, Pubmed, Proquest, and Google Scholar, and checking the journal index on the SJR and SINTA sites. The results of the search for literature sources were found as many as 22 journals which can be used as references for literature reviews. The results obtained from literature reviews from various journals state different results. This is because the environmental conditions of a country are different. After summarizing several journals, the results of comparisons between risky and non-risky variables, most of which have a higher risk. The conclusion of this literature review is that all variables from air pollution (PM2.5, PM10, CO, NO2, and SO2) and individual characteristics (age, sex, and comorbid) are risk factors for death from COVID-19. Meanwhile, the O3 variable is not a risk factor for death due to COVID-19.
