Abstract

Sexual harassment is an unwanted sexual act and is a criminal behavior related to the sexuality of the offender to the victim. Students are considered to have broad and positive insights and thoughts to overcome the problems that exist in front of them. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between health belief model theory and sexual harassment prevention behavior among students in the "X" campus area of Surabaya City. This study was an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sample of this research is 229 students of class 2016 and 2017, Faculty of "X" University "X" Surabaya City. Samples were obtained randomly using simple random sampling. The method used is to use an online questionnaire that is distributed via Whatsapp one by one. The independent variables of this study are perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, cues to action. The dependent variable of this study is sexual harassment prevention behavior. Data analysis in this study used the chisquare test. The results of this study showed that the variables that have a relationship with sexual harassment prevention behavior include the variable perceived susceptibility (p = 0.039); perceived benefits (p = 0.010); and perceived selfefficacy (p = 0.003). Meanwhile, the variables that did not have a relationship with sexual harassment prevention behavior were perceived severity (p = 0.348); perceived barriers (p = 0.576); and cues to action (p = 0.417). The conclusion from this study shows that there is a relationship between perceived vulnerability, perceived benefits, and perceived self-efficacy with sexual harassment prevention behavior. Promotional and preventive efforts need to be done in preventing incidents of sexual harassment on campus by holding seminars, webinars, and training on the topic of prevention of sexual harassment. In addition, it can also create applications for official complaint services online. Hold a forum "Stop Sexual Harassment!" with students and specialized institutions dealing with sexual harassment cases. Organizing counseling institutions so that victims receive psychological assistance, as well as strengthening regulations regarding the handling of cases of sexual harassment. The individual level is expected to increase self-awareness to be more aware and dare to speak up and to attend training or selfprotection education to prevent sexual harassment.
