Abstract
This research aimed to know the motility and viability of local chicken (Gallus domesticus) spermatozoa in 5% dextrose ringer as a distributor with the addition of various egg yolk concentrations at 5ºC temperature. This research was conducted using two local chickens of 1,5-year-old, divided into four treatment groups. The semen from local chicken (Gallus domesticus) was taken by massage method every morning. The Treatment groups were P0 (Ringer dextrose diluter), P1 (Ringer dextrose diluter + 5% egg yolk), P2 (Ringer dextrose diluter + 7,5% egg yolk), P3 (Ringer dextrose diluter + 10% egg yolk). The obtained data were analyzed using ANOVA test and Duncan test. The result showed there was a significant difference (p>0.05) between each treatment group for the spermatozoa motility and viability. In conclusion, this research revealed that the addition of various egg yolk concentrations in 5% dextrose ringer as a distributor can maintain the motility and viability percentage showed on treatment group of P3 better than P1 and P2.
