Abstract

The General Hospital of Haji Surabaya is health service facility that has many potential hazards that can lead to work accidents. Based on the results of interviews, the causes of work accidents were the majority due to personal factors and substandard practices. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relation between personal factors and substandard practices with the incidence of work accidents. This research is a descriptive analysis research using a quantitative approach with a cross sectional research design. The population in this study were 42 inpatient nurses in Marwah I, Marwah II, and Shofa III Rooms at RSU Haji Surabaya. The sample taken in this study using a total population method. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis using statistic application. The results showed that the personal factors for most of the respondents were aged 25-35 years (54.8%), female (78.6%), the latest education level was D3/equivalent (78.6%), working duration > 5 years. (64.3%), had a moderate category of work motivation (97.6%), had good knowledge (54.8%), had a moderate workload (52.4%), and have moderate work stress (88 , 1%). Then for substandard practices, most of the respondents had done it (54.8%) and the incidence of work accidents showed that most respondents had experienced it (59.5%). The results of the personal factor variable analysis showed that the workload had the greatest contingency coefficient value, namely 0.503. Then the results of the analysis of the substandard practices variable obtained the contingency coefficient value of 0.387. The conclusion in this study is that the workload variable and the substandard practices variable have the greatest relation strength. Suggestions that can be given are implementing refreshing program,implementing workload management, increasing K3, and implementing OHS supervision.
