Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the extract of the Tithonia diversifolia on the inflammatory cell infiltration, haemorrhage, and congestion in albino rat’s hepatocytes (Rattus norvegicus) with diabetes mellitus. This study used rats with diabetes model that were intraperitoneally induced by Streptozotocin with a single dose of 45 mg/kgBW. The sample consisted of twenty rats divided into six groups, the negative control group (K-) was not induced with Streptozotocin, but treated with 1% CMC Na, the positive control group (K+) was induced with Streptozotocin without treatment, (P1) was induced with Streptozotocin and given glibenclamide at a dose 0,45 mg/kgBW, (P2) Tithonia diversifolia extract at a dose of 100 mg/kgBW, (P3) was induced with Streptozotocin and Tithonia diversifolia extract was given at a dose of 200 mg/kgBW, (P4) was induced with Streptozotocin and Tithonia diversifolia extract was given a dose of 400 mg/kgBW every day for 14 days. The data have been described in the tabel form, analyzed with Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney. The results of research indicated the inflammatory cell infiltration, haemorrhage, and congestion albino rat that given Tithonia diversifolia extract with dose 200 mg/kgBW (P3) was significantly higher (p<0,05) than (P1), (P2), (P4) and (K+).
