Abstract

Klaten Regency is a district with tuberculosis cases that fluctuate every year, meaning that there is an increase and decrease in the number of cases every year. In 2019 there were 1171 cases of all Tuberculosis cases in Klaten Regency with the discovery of Tuberculosis suspects who received standard services totaling 5,939 cases. Meanwhile, 505 Tuberculosis suspects with smear positive. Various efforts have been made by the government, one of which is the Directly Observed Treatment Short-Couse (DOTS) program involving Tuberculosis cadres. The study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and the role of Tuberculosis cadres with the discovery of tuberculosis suspects in the DOTS program in Klaten district. This study was an analytic observational study with a cross sectional design. Respondents of this study were tuberculosis cadres who actively carried out their duties as cadres and were willing to become respondents in the study totaling 145 respondents. The sampling method was simple random sampling. The independent variables of this study are the characteristics of the respondents (age and education), knowledge of cadres, the role of cadres (counselors, supervisors and motivators for PMO, coordinators of PMO and PMO). While the dependent variable is the discovery of Tuberculosis suspects. Collecting research data using offline questionnaires. Data analysis used univariable and bivariable analysis with the chisquare test. The results of this study found that the variables that have a relationship with the discovery of Tuberculosis suspects include the education variable (p=0.019) with very weak relationship strength, cadre knowledge (p=0.026) with very weak relationship strength, the role of cadres as counseling (0.008) with weak relationship strength and the role of cadres as mentors and motivators for PMO (p=0.012) with weak relationship strength. Meanwhile, variables that did not have a relationship with the finding of Tuberculosis suspects were age (p=0.586), PMO coordinator (p=0.389) and PMO (p=0.210). The conclusion in this study indicate that the majority of cadres are early elderly with senior hight school education so that they need to upgrade themselves through training, seminars to improve Tuberculosis Suspect discovery skills. Tuberculosis program holders carry out regular evaluations and facilitate the selfdevelopment activities of Tuberculosis cadres.
