Abstract

Hospital is one of the workplaces with a high risk of danger where there is a high interaction with patients, work equipment, and the work environment that can cause accidents or occupational diseases. Nurses are human resources who have an important role in health services including medical action, nursing care, treatment mobilization, and administration who have a high risk of being exposed to dangers which is the near miss. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors associated with near miss among nurses. This study used a descriptive observational with cross sectional design. Respondent were 53 nurses. The data obtained will be presented in frequency distribution, cross tabulation, and correlation analysis by reading the Spearman correlation coefficient. The independent variables consisted of knowledge about near miss, OSH skills, job stress, work equipment, compliance with the use of PPE, housekeeping and dependent variable is the near miss. The results showed that there was a weak correlation between knowledge about near miss (C = 0,236), work equipment (C = -0.213), and housekeeping (C = -0.259) with near miss among nurses. Meanwhile, there is a medium correlation between OSH skills (C = -0.276), job stress (C = 0.351) and compliance with PPE use (-0,455) with near miss. The conclusion of this study is OSH skills, compliance using PPE, and job stress that among contribute to near miss. Based on the result, the suggestions that can be given are the development of SPOs or policies related to the implementation of OSH which are communicated to all workers related to the implementation of activities such as education, training, minimizing risks, and reporting. Development of reporting system in work accident or near miss properly and safely to support proactive improvements and the application of a reward and punishment system.
