Abstract

Cancer is the process of body cells proliferation that are not controlled. Treatment of cancer such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy have side effects, so natural anticancer is needed. The soursoup (Annona muricata L.) is a traditional medicinal plant which is empirically by the people of Indonesia are used for anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor.The purpose of this study was to determine the cytotoxic effect of extract of soursoup (Annona muricata L.) seeds againsts T47D, HeLa, WiDr, and Raji Cancer cells. Cytotoxic test performed by the method of MTT assay. The parameters obtained from the cytotoxic test was IC50 values. IC50 is a value that produce inhibitory concentrations of cancer cells by 50%. The results showed that the extract of soursoup seeds has a cytotoxic activity with IC50 values of 20.357 ± 1.584 μg/ml for T47D cell, 40.056 ± 3.122 μg/ml for WiDr cell, 8.906 ± 4.497 μg/ml for HeLa cell, and 11.242 ± 4.528 μg/ml for Raji cell.
