Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the effect of Vitamin E on SGOT and SGPT levels in Rats (Rattus novergicus) exposed by 2,3,7,8- Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). The research used 25 adult male rats as experimental animals which divided into five groups; C(-) as negative control which were given corn oil 0,5 ml, T0 was given TCDD 700 ng/kgBW, T1 was given TCDD 700 ng/kgBW and Vitamin E 77 mg/kgBW, T2 was given TCDD 700 ng/kgBW and Vitamin E 140 mg/kgBW, T3 was given TCDD 700 ng/kgBW and Vitamin E 259 mg/kgBW. Samples were taken on day 21st . Then the data were compared using ANOVA and DMRT Test. In SGOT, C(-) was not significantly different with T2 and T3. Groups T0 and T1 shows was also not significantly different. Meanwhile, C(-) was significantly different with T0 and T1. SGPT Test shows C(-) was not significantly different with T2 and T3. T0 was not also significantly different with T1. Meanwhile, C(-), T3, T2 was significantly different with T0 and T1. T0 was significantly different with T2 and T3. T3 was the group with the highest decrease in SGOT and SGPT level among the treatment group because the antioxidant contemt can effectively prevent oxidative stress caused by TCDD. It can be concluded that Vitamin E has an effect to decrease the SGOT and SGPT level of rats exposed by 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD).
