Abstract
Globalization and strategy explain how globalization influence all forms of world activity today, both for countries and other actors. This research starts from the globalization of information and technology as the main theme and then looks at the influence of globalization in the domestic politics of a country. Not only domestic politics, but globalization also affects individuals which increase the concept of populism in the current era. This study aims to see how the threat of Jair Bolsonaro's populist ideology to Brazil's modern democracy through Twitter. This study describes the dynamics of the Brazilian democratic system and the entry of the Internet in Brazil as a beginning description of the use of Twitter as a "tool" of Jair Bolsonaro's political communication and Bolsonaro's mass strategy. To answer the research question, the author uses the theoretical framework of Globalization of Information and Technology and Domestic Politics and the theory of Populism and Social Media. This research uses a qualitative research methodology to answer questions about experience, meaning, and perspective, from the author's point of view. In this research, the author argues that the use of social media Twitter has a positive effect on the spread of Jair Bolsonaro's populist ideology through political representation and ideational approaches. In addition, the use of bots on Twitter gives more supports to the spread of populist ideology which ultimately poses a threat to democracy in Brazil.
