Abstract
Background: Developments that occur in human life, trigger the evolution of the world of dentistry. To support the success of dental treatment, restorative materials continue to innovate to provide optimal results. One material that is widely used in dentistry is wax. Wax is a material that is often used in the manufacture of restoration wax models. It is important for the dentist or technician to know the characteristics and proper storage methods to avoid distortion of the restoration results. Purpose: to find out in which temperature the wax pattern storage temperature is to support the success of restoration. Review: Wax material was chosen because it has a variety of beneficial properties. There are six basic properties possessed by dental wax. These properties are melting point, thermal expansion, mechanical properties, flowability, residual stress, and elasticity. Distortion is a serious problem that must be considered in the process of making dental restorations. Distortion can occur due to air trapped in the wax pattern. Distortion is also happen by several factors. Conclusion: To achieve the ideal restoration, investing should be done as soon as possible. If it cannot be done directly, the wax pattern should be stored in a room or place with a temperature of less than 25°C. The night model is also not recommended to be left for more than 3 hours at room temperature. Storage can also be done by soaking in water. With proper storage, technicians can reduce the risk of distortion that occurs in the wax pattern so the result of restoration will be more accurate.
