Abstract

Paylater services which comprehend the “buy now, pay later” principles currently integrated into several lifestyle-based applications. Those integrations made it easier to use as well as continuing their use towards paylater, though aware the risk it may possessed due to its principle as a form of debt. Thus, this research was conducted in identify as well as analyze the influence factors of user’s intention in deciding to continue the usage of paylater and provide recommendations to both paylater providers and developers related to strategies that can be applied and beneficial towards user sustainability in the nearby future. By integrating DeLone and McLean and Self-Determination Theory, data analysis and research model were carried out using PLS-SEM approach with the help of SmartPLS where there were 427 respondents included in it. It was known there were three main indicators influencing user’s continuance towards the usage of paylater, namely intrinsic regulation-related to “the pleasure”, introjected regulations-related to “the ego involvement”, and lastly external regulations, where model was able to explained 56,1% variance in the stage of continuance intention. This research also found satisfaction did not affect the continuance intention of paylater usage. Based on the results obtained, recommendations that can be inhered are to create a paylater ecosystem where it supports the ease of paylater’s usage as a form of intrinsic regulation, a guarantee of security and comfortness services provided as it implements introjected regulation, and providing promos/discount which implement external regulation to maximize users’ awareness to continues the usage of paylater.
