Abstract

Taylor Swift Stan Twitter is a group of adolescents and young adults who idolize the American singer named Taylor Swift. They have a unique and creative style in communicating with each other. Therefore, this research is aimed to identify the linguistic features and the language styles found in Taylor Swift Stan Twitter. The writer used a theory by Joos to analyze the type of language style and the linguistic features. The objects of the study are the tweets taken from Taylor Swift Stan account from January to December 2019. The results show that out of 90 data in total, the types of style in Taylor Swift Stan Twitter are casual style and intimate style with 77 data and 13 data each. For casual style, the linguistic features found are slang, ellipsis and casual style with abbreviation. Meanwhile, the linguistic features of intimate style are jargon, extraction, and intimate style with slang. Moreover, this research also found that most of the tweets contain the linguistic features of internet. These internet linguistic features are essential to figure out the context of the data collected.
