Abstract
The research entitled "Errors in Speech Perception in Children aged 9-11 years in Kedungwaru Tulungagung Village" aims to examine the forms of speech misperceptions committed by children aged 9-11 years in Kedungwaru Tulungagung Village, and examine the factors that cause these speech misperceptions. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data in this study consisted of 20 words containing speech perception errors by children who were studied using auditory perception, while the data source was 10 sentences that were recorded and tested on 30 children aged 9-11 years in Kedungwaru village, Tulungagung. This study uses the slips of the ear model by Bond (2005) to analyze the perception of speech that contains errors from an auditory perspective. The use of misheard theory in speech perception is used to identify children's mistakes in perceiving speech that has been heard. Through the analysis of mishearing in this study, it was found that the misperceptions of speech were found in terms of phonetics, phonology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. The classifications of misheard found in this study are vowel misperception, consonant misperception, segment sequence error, phonological reduction, language variation, not word, word boundary, content word and function word, correct and incorrect word form, argument structure and function, and semantic misperceptions.
