Abstract

Indonesia ranks first as the largest producer of accounting students and graduates in ASEAN countries, contributing approximately 34.800 each year. However, the number of professional accountants is still relatively low. Referring to the Theory of Planned Behavior as the theoretical basis, this study aims to examine the factors that influence students’ intention in taking accounting certifications. This study is a quantitative research that is using primary data with 5-Likert scale questionnaires. Data were obtained from 390 accounting students in nine public universities located at East Java. The statistical analysis used is binary logistic regression and the tool used is Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS). The results of this study indicate that self-efficacy has the most significant influence towards the intention of accounting students in nine public universities in East Java to take accounting certifications, followed by job security and close people.
