Abstract

Abstract The Faculty of Dentistry, Hiroshima University has conducted many undergraduate international programs every year. One of the purposes of the programs is to encourage the internal internationalization of students and faculty members through international communication. To promote international communication and to enhance collaborative learning through the communication, we conducted a pilot collaboration seminar between post-graduate clinical training and undergraduate international exchange programs In 2011. After the seminar, the participating international students evaluated that they were satisfied with the seminar. The results of the trainee dentists' assessments showed that they became aware of their own status through the . communication, they understood the importance of non-verbal skills to communicate with non-Japanese speaking people, and many trainee dentists passively engaged in the process. In conclusion, the pilot collaboration seminar helped to clarify the necessity of responding to Internationalization. and we were able to approach international communication with a new method. Based on those assessments, we wfil try to develop a system for the seminar so that trainee dentists are more actively committed from the planning and management stage. We also hope to promote better understanding of the knowledge using "collaborative learning" as a next step
