Abstract
Translating a book consisting of short stories is a quite challenging task for the translator. The cultural terms that are brought by the writer cause several difficulties in the process of translating. The short story is part of a literature product that exists to be an entertaining media for readers. This concern inspired the writer to conduct his analysis to achieve the expected result in target language, so the translation can deliver the equal entertaining content derived from source language. There are four short stories that the writer had chosen in conducting his research from the book entitled Violinis Misterius by Maryam Tazkia. There are eight methods based on Newmark Theory, but there is only one method used as the analysis result which was semantic translation. Moreover, there are seven essential strategies were applied in this translation, such as addition, subtraction, transposition, cultural equivalent, synonym, modulation, and omission.
