Abstract

Computed Tomography Scan (CT-Scan) is a diagnostic supported tool that uses x-rays with tomography technic and modern computerized to check human organs. Therefore, an optimal image is needed so that the inspection of object can be diagnosed appropriately. So that, this research was carried out on CT-Scan Image Optimization with Tube Current Variation in Some Kernel Filters Based on Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) values. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of tube current variation on some kernel filters for image quality on CT-Scan based on the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) value and to determine the large value of tube current and the type of kernel filter used so the highest value of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). In this study, the writer scanned the water phantom by using a variation of the tube current of 150 mA, 200 mA, 250 mA and 300 mA with thrice scans on each variation of the tube current so, it will gets 12 raw data. Furthermore, raw data is given kernel filters which are soft and edge. So that, there are 24 images that will be performed Region of Interest (ROI) techniques. ROI is performed on objects and backgrounds to get the signal value (mean) and noise (standard deviation) on the image to calculate the SNR value. Based on the data analysis founded that the variation of tube current and kernel filter has an influence on image quality based on the SNR value and the amount of tube current and kernel filter used to get the highest SNR value is 300 mA and Soft kernel filter.
