Abstract

especially for a young girl. The study focuses on the analysis of Jinda’s life and her struggle to gain a better life as portrayed in the novel Rice Without Rain. Moreover, the purpose of the study is to know how women can survive on their life through hard work as a farmer and willingness. To analyze the novel, the writer applies Feminist Liberalism Criticism to emphasize on the freedom of women to choose the best for their life. The theory also supports the writer’s analysis for discovering that women’s empowerment is based on their own courage to accept the way they are as human being. The conclusion of the study is that the novel written by Minfong Ho, gives an idea about women’s struggle to survive in their life as featured by Jinda, the main character.
