Abstract
The term BONITA is given for female football fans who have a great fanaticism towards Persebaya, and it is obvious that BONITA are the female BONEK. Nowadays the number of BONITA grows as more female are found inside the stadium watching the match and giving support for Persebaya. Although they are female, but some cases are found that some of them do act like men. Due to this, this study wants to discover the gender identity performed by them and the motive behind it. This study takes place in Surabaya and applies qualitative research method and conducted by using in-depth interview and uses the snowball method to collect the data. Theory of gender is chosen to analyze the study, especially the theory of performativity by Judith Butler since this study is focusing on how BONITA perform their gender identity through their behaviors during the time when they give support for Persebaya Surabaya, whether they perform themselves as masculine or feminine. This study also discovers the factors that influenced their decision to be BONITA and factors that involved in constructing their gender identity.
