Abstract

Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) is the most common medical complications in pregnancy globally and becomes one main cause of maternal mornidity and mortality. The classification of PIH are gestational hypertension, chronic hypertension, preeclampsia (PE), and preeclampsia superimposed on chronic hypertension. Based on literature, gestational hypertension and pre-eclampsia are the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity. However, all types of PIH has less favorable outcome compared to newborns with normotensive mothers.
