Abstract

Purpose: To compare the analgesia and akinesia effect between peribulbar and sub tenon anaesthesia in extra capsular cataract extraction and complication occurred. Method: ECCE+ IOL was done in 80 eyes of80 patients in which 40 patients using sub tenon and the rest using peribulbar technic. Analgesia and akinesia effect using lidocain 2% was examined 10 minutes after infection. We used Mann Whitney semi quantitative statistical test for akinesia effect. This study was conducted in Community Eye Health Centre Surabaya. Result: There's no significant differences in analgesia as well as akinesia technic between both group (p > 0,05). 90% complication occurred in sub tenon anaesthesia technic were sub conjuctiva bleeding and chemosis. CondusioD : Analgesia and akinesia effect using peribulbar and sub tenon technic was not differ. Complication occurred in sub tenon technic such as sub conjunctiva bleeding and chemosis caused by cutting of conjunctiva but ECCE with IOL implantation still be able to perform.
