Abstract

This study is about an analysis of Nina Frost’s dilemmatic conflicts between Love and Justice in Perfect Match. The objective of the study is to elaborate and find out the conflict in the novel by knowing the character of Nina and analyze the conflicts of the main character as organic unity. That is why this study uses New Criticism theory and establish the theme. This study uses qualitative analysis. The writer finds primary source which is taken from the novel itself and secondary sources which are taken from books, journals, and internet. All the sources and data are used to support the analysis. The main character in Perfect Match influences to the dilemmatic conflicts. Nina is a strong cold blood mother, brave, selfish, stubborn, self-esteem, and full of love. She has dilemma in her mind and heart that makes the conflicts getting worse. She finds out that her son get sexual abuse. Finally she chooses to kill the abuser and put the law on her own hand. Killing the priest brings Nina to get the dilemmatic conflicts as the climax of the story. The First, Nina must face the dilemmatic between love and justice. The second, she must face dilemmatic conflict between wright and wrong based on her personal judgement. From the study, the conflicts become the point that makes the story interesting. Dilemmatic conflict is a situation in which a choice must be made whether in action or arguments. It is not an easy thing for the people who experiencing dilemmatic conflicts.
