Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between resilience and parenting stress among mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This research is based on the data of the high level of stress in parenting with children of ASD and the impact of parenting stress for mothers such as agressive behavior and homicide in children with ASD. This study is important to identify parenting stress in mothers of children with ASD which is feared to trigger an unexpected pathological distress. The type of research is a quantitative and use survey method. Participants in this study were mothers of children with ASD wich is specifically housewives who carry out care independently without the help of househood assistants. The number of participants in this study were 31 participants. The measuring instument used in this research is the resilience scale base on theory of Reivich and Shatte (2002) with 31 item (α=0,737) and used the Parenting Stress Index (PSI) from Abidin (1995) which is 26 representative items (α=0,730).The data analysis technique used is Pearson Product Moment with IBM SPSS Statistic 25.0 for Windows. Based on the results of the analysis carried out, it was obtained that there was negative relationship (r=0.000) p= -0,692) and significant (p = 0,000; p < p 0,005). The correlation value obtained was negative. It means that the higher of resilience among mothers of childern with ASD will makes the lower level of parenting stress.
