The CLT characteristic taken from Brown is used to find the application of CLT and its characteristics. Brown‟s characteristics include overall goal, form and function, fluency and accuracy, real-world context, autonomy and strategic involvement, teacher role and student role. This study used qualitative method. In collecting data, four observations was conducted. It included note taking, recording, and interviewing. Afterwards, the data from every meeting was analyzed to reveal the application of CLT and its characteristics. This study reveals that both native speaker and non-native speaker teachers have similarities in applying CLT. Native speaker and non-native speaker teacher use almost all CLT characteristics in each class meeting except for autonomy and strategic involvement. Autonomy and strategic involvement emerged only in one meeting. Most of these CLT characteristics was shown by communicative tasks such as role play and group discussion.
