Abstract

This study prominently examines the story telling of Javanese woman in rural area that has special interesting feature to be researched. This includes the general discourse about women in Java especially in rural area that are regarded as appendages in family and companion of their husbands. Thus, in this study the researcher posed a question regard to this phenomenon, includes how the structure of telling story Javanese woman is. By using narrative structure proposed by William Labov which consist of six elements based on its informational function, those are Abstract, Orientation, Complicating Action, Evaluation, Resolution and Coda, the researcher is concerning in categorizing the story based onthose elements. Those six elements in Labov's theory can answer how the Javanese woman in telling the story which reflects the identity. Furthermore, the researcher observes the negotiation of role in Javanese women with the participant and can be a reflection of position of Javanese women. As a conclusion, this research give a different perspective toward State Ibuism as the result of new order government policy in treat the women.
