Abstract

Comprehending English medical brochure involves so many components of reading, mainly knowledge of pharmacy and basic knowledge of English competence. This thesis proves the assumption about the existence of relation between general English Competence and the degree of comprehension English medical brochure and proves how far the contribution of general English competence in the process of understanding English medical brochure. It is based on the theory of comprehending English texts by foreign learners issued by Alderson and Ulijn. Using quantitative analysis, the number of determination coefficient and the correlation coefficient is obtained. For observation, the researcher used pharmacist assistants as respondent { n = 30 } which are randomly taken from the four areas of Surabaya.
