Abstract

Background Black tea or Camellia sinensis, which is beneficial for health, one of its benefits is capability to prevent the growth of Candida albicans because it has active substance flavonoid po/yphenol.Purpose. The aim of this research is to find the effect of Black tea infusion prevent the growth of Candida albicans on acrylic resin denture plate. Methods. The research was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of acrylic resin immersion in different concentration of black tea injUsion on Candida albicans existence. The sample of this research were 10x10x1 mm heat-cured acrylic plate. The samples were divided into four groups. Each group had been given Black tea infusion with 3,25%;4,25%;5,25% and sterilized aquadest as the control with immersion time 1 hour.8 samples were used for each exercise. The plates with saboroud agar were incubated at 37’C for 24 hours and then Candida albicans were counted The file were analyzed by Kolmogorov -8mimov analysis, Anova and Tukey HSD Test. Resulst. The result showed there were significant differences among the amount of Candida albicans which grew in differences concentration of black tea infusion (p< 0,05). Conclusion. Black tea infusion had prevented the growth of Candida albicans on acrylic resin denture plate.
