Abstract

ABSTRACT Delivery of the goods at the moment more use of container because it is safer and faster. Container size is standardized and orderly functioning as wrapping the items to be shipped. The purpose of this study was to studying the effect of labor characteristic of the crane operators on the occurrence of errors in loading performed by the operators at PT Tenninal Container crane in Surabaya. This research uses observational research method and is a cross sectional research based on its spent time. The used data is primary data that was collected from observations and questionnaires and secondary data that was collected from the related company. The research started in May 2016. The result of this research shows that most respondent are with age 36-40 years old (45%), high school graduates (52.5%) and with 11-15 years work period (47 .5%). All respondent have participated in crane operation training and state that there were policies. Respondent age >50 years old did unsafe actions (100%), the level of undergraduate education did unsafe action (68.2%) and >20 years work period did unsafe action. Improving the quality of regular training for once every 2 years. Respondents also expected to work in accordance with the operation of the container crane work instructions
