Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) was the most prevalent disease inPublicHealth Center in Jember District during 2011-2013. However,both Case Detection Rate (CDR)coverageand number of Public Health Centers that meet the CDR targetwas decreased. This study aimedto analyze the influence of competence and self-leadership on the performance of the Tuberculosis Control Program officer or called P2TB officer in Jember Health Centers. This study was an observational analytic andcross sectional design. Research conducted by interview and observation supported to 44 P2TB officers and Public Health Center’s heads whowere determined by simple random sampling method. The independent variables are competence and self-leadership whilethe dependent variable is performance. Based on the results, it was known that competence (p= 0,000; β= 0,582) and self-leadership (p= 0,000; β= 0,415) significantly influence the performance of P2TB officers. Most influential variable is the competence of the value of β= 0,582. This suggests that P2TB Officer shouldpay more attention to increase competence and self-leadership, such as for self-observation and self-reward. Head of Public Health Center should assist P2TB Officerby monitoring and evaluating them. Jember District Health Office should maximize validation activity as a medium to improvetheirknowledge and skills.
