Abstract

This thesis is a study of one of the modern literary work, actually a study of Henrick Ibsen’s modern play which is entitled A Doll's House. As we know, Henrick Ibsen is Norwegian modern dramatist who lived during the late of ninetenth until the beginning of twentieth century. Through his works, Ibsen tried to serve a resolution of the social contemporary problem. A Doll's House is one of his magterpiece which explores human problem. especially the position of contemporary woman. Based on those case, in this thesis the writer would like to find out woman's efforts to maintain her rights against the social attitude and notion in the play A Doll's House. In attaining the aim, the writer uses some theories, such as objective theory and mimetic theory. Besides those theories, she uses three approaches, literary, psychological and sociological approach, as her basic principles to analyze the play. Those theorins and approaches will be delineated in Chapter III of this thesis. Thay are used as her means to analyze and to find out the aim of the writer of this thesis in analyzing A Doll’s House.
