Abstract
Background : Appendicitis is the most frequent case in abdominal emergency surgery. Serum C-reactive protein level and blood count leucocyte level are indicators to differs a characteristic of appendicitis and very important in early diagnosis of acute appendicitis. Early detection of acute appendicitis can decrease morbidity and mortality rate. Objective : During the periode of March 15 , 2000 - April 30, 2000, in Department of Surgery Dr. Soetomo Hospital, a study of C- reactive protein level in blood serum and blood count leucocyte had been conducted on 24 patients, 12 patients with acute non perforated appendicitis and 12 patients with acute perforated appendicitis . Method: The statistic data was processed with t-test independent Result : The C-reactive protein blood serum level in acute non perforated appendicitis is higher than in acute perforated appendicitis, and blood count leucocyte in acute perforated appendicitis is higher than in acute non perforated appendicitis . Conclusion : The results revealed that there was a significant difference of Creactive protein blood serum level in acute non perforated appendicitis and in acute perforated appendicitis. Also significant difference of blood count leucocyte in acute non perforated appendicitis and in acute perforated appendicitis.
