Abstract
Background: Negative appendectomy is higher on women in reproductive age than other groups of age, approximately 40 % Objective : To know that Alvarado score can be performed diagnose of acute appendicitis Methode : During November until December 2001 and May until June 2002, 34 women who complained of pain on the right lower quadrant of abdomen and was suspected to have acute appendicitis were included in this study. Sensitivity was 8,3 unti191,7 %, specificitity was 45,5 until95,5 %, positive predicitive value was 7,7 until 50% and negative predicitive value was 65,6 until 92,3 %. Conclusion : The Alvarado score alone is not sufficient to diagnose acute appendicitis, it must be supported by other procedure sucb as ultrasonography. Tbe parameter of Alvarado score suggested to change because many parameters influenced by subjective conditions.
