Abstract
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONVENTIONAL PLYOMETRIC TRAINING AND MODIFIED PLYOMETRIC TRAINING ON LEGS POWER AND HANDSPRING SCORE
Conventional plyometric power traning is a kind of training given by gymnastic coach up to this moment, where as modified plyometric training is a modification of the existed taining style that is never used before by coach in the club, and would be applied as an innovative model. The purpose was to increase muscle power, and the score as a result. Plyometric training is a method used to develop eksplosive power. In this training, agreat contraction responds to sinamic load and fast muscle stretch of the related muscle. Plyometric means a fast excentric contraction followed instantly by concentric contraction. Rules of plyometric training that should be followed; 1) plyometric twining should be done on soft and plane surface, 2) It begins from 1 set every training, to be continued by 3 set or more, 3) should begin by continuous simple drill followed by a more difficult step. 4) Warming up and stretching should be done before and after training, 5) Athlete should do the training as forceful as possible (100%) to ensure the best result, 6) Rest 1 — 2 minutes between training session, 7) Every set of training takes 6 — 8 seconds, 8) stop the training before exhaustion because this will ruin the quality of training. The result for conventional pliometric training group are (1) power of legs for vertical jump mean increased 46.75 cm become 50.00 cm (p < 0.05), (2) power of legs for standing broad jump increased 162.37 cm become 165.25 cm (p < 0.05), (3) Eventhought for handspring in this group also mean increased from 9.80 points become 10.35 points (p < 0.05). For modified plyometric training group, the result are : (1) power of legs for vertical jump increased from 48.62 cm become 51.50 cm (p > 0.05), (2) power of legs for standing broad jump mean increased 165.00 cm become 172.62 cm (p < 0.05). This group more increased than conventional because the training characteristic is the same with the test, (3) Eventhought for the handspring score mean increased than conventional group from 11.07 points become 11.78 points (p < 0.05). And the summary it was conventional and modified plyometric training increased the leg power and handspring score, and modified plyometric training was the same with conventional plyometric training to increased the leg power and handspring score.
