Abstract

Early diagnosis of incarcerated bowel are very crucial, Several studies on animal resulted that strangulation of the bowel could be diagnosed by examination of serum CPK-BB (Creatine Phosphokinase BB type) level. During the period of Oktobcr 1999 - February 2000, a study of CPK-1313 in blood serum had been conducted on 36 patients, 12 patients with incarcerated hernia.12 patients with non incarcerated hernia and 12 healthy persons. The data was analysed with ANOVA, Post Hoc (LSD) test, and the result reveal that there is significance difference between CPK - BB level of incarcerated hernia and non incarcerated hernia. There is also a significance difference between viable bowel and non viable bowel.
