Abstract

Family planning program is an effort to plan the number of child and space the pregnancy by using contraception devices. In "Jampersal" policy, after childbirth all patients are required to participate in family planning program. Yet, many patients with "Jampersal" do not join this program. The aim of this research is to analyze factors influencing the participation of patients with "Jampersal" in family planning program after childbirth in Mardi Waluyo Regional Hospital, Blitar. This research used cross sectional design. The population was patients with "Jampersal" who underwent childbirth in April 2012 in Mardi Waluyo Regional Hospital, Blitar. Sample gotten by using purposive sampling were 30 respondents. Independent variables were age, education, number of children, knowledge, and attitude. Dependent variable was the participation in family planning program. Data was collected using questionnaire and observation sheet then analyzed using spearman's rho correlation with significance level ofp~O.05. Results showed that there was significant relationship between education with the participation in family planning (p=O.OO), the number of children with the participation in family planning (p=O.OO), knowledge with the participation in family planning (p=O.OO), and attitude with the participation in family planning (p=0.007). There was no relationship between age with the participation in family planning (p=O.956). These results can be concluded that education, number of children, knowledge, and attitude are factors influencing the participation of patient with "Jampersal" in family planning after childbirth. For further research, it takes a greater number of samples so the data obtained will more represent the whole population.
