Abstract

Cancer is the most feared type of disease due to the high number of deaths. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between the level of spirituality and the quality of life in patients with cancer at the community health center Pacarkeling Surabaya. This study was a correlational study with cross sectional method. Sampling was carried out with purposive sampling technique and there were 20 respondents for this study. The independent variable in this study was spirituality. The dependent variable in this study was the level of quality of life of cancer patients in community health center Pacarkeling Surabaya. Data were collected using a questionnaire on spirituality responses and questionnaire of Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT -13). Data were analyzed using Spearman's correlation test. Results indicated that spirituality was correlated with the level of quality of life (p = 0.023) with r value of 0.506. This study concludes that there is a correlation between spirituality and the level of quality of life in cancer patients. Future studies are expected to develop further research on interventions that can improve spirituality and enhance the quality of life in cancer patients.
