Abstract

Capacitation and acrosome reactions of sperms are the important reaction for fertilization process. The sperm membrane integrity plays an important role in these reactions. The objective of study was intended to find out the effects of essentiale phospholipid and antioxidant (vitamine E) on the sperm membrane integrity. The pretest-posttest controle group design was applied. The subjects were infertile couple male, age ranged from 20 to 40 years at Infertility Clinic RSUP.Sanglah Denpasar. The sampling method applied was random sampling. From 80 persons sampled only 70 persons participated continously during the study. The treatments were a) placebo for the group one ( a s controle group), b) antioxidant (vitamine E) 100 m&/ day for the group 2, c) essentiale phospholipid 900 mg/day f o r the group 3, and d) essentiale phospholipid 900 mg/day & antioxidant(vitamine E) 100 mg/ day for the group 4. The treatment given continously for 74 days. The result showed that essentiale phospholipid and antioxidant (vitamine E) increased the sperm progresive motility , sperm normal morphology , sperm viability, sperm membrane functional integrity and sperm membrane lipid.
