Abstract

Cognitive ability is an ability emphasized on intellectual process and student cognitive ability to matters of eIectrolyte and Iiquid's need showed the mastery of knowledge, comprehensive, application, anlysis, synthesis, and evaluation about concepts of matters of electrolyte and liquit's need. This research is proposed to identify effect of based learning problem toward student's cognitive ability about matters of electrolyte and liquid's need. The research design was using quasy experiment. The population was Grade I student of DIII Keperawatan UM Surabaya as many as 44 students (22 of them in treatment group and 22 others in control group). Independent variable was effect of based leaming problem and dependent variable was student cognitive ability about matters of electrolyte and liquid's need. Data collection by using quisionaire and analysis test by using statistic test of Mann Whitney with significance < 0,05. Result of study was obtained because there was strong effect between effect of based learning problem toward student cognitive ability about matters of electrolyte and liquid's need with p value = 0,000. Inconclution PBL has significance effect on nurse the increase student competent on basic needs fluid and electrolyte. Further study are recomended the effect of PBL on the change of behavior and skill for nurse student.
