Abstract

'This paper studies the problem of maleo, the relics of ancient bird s pec ies , which is almost extinct. Th s kind . of bird is only found in Sulawesi , Indonesia . The stealing of its eggs , t he predators and the destr oyin ~ of its habitat are the mai n factors which threaten Maleo i nto ext inction . So f ar, the measures which are already taken , are the inclussion of this bird into the would be Indonesia Red Data Book , reservation and hatchin ~ its eggs with control . Other possibili ties to protect Maleo f rom extinctionare by controlling the predators , developping i ts habitat , domestica ting and artificial hatching using devices such as incubator, green house and solar energy .
