Abstract

The aim of this research is to find the best method of composting from the waste of sugar factor. The ability of three isolated microorganisms ( bacteria, fungus and actinomycetes ) to hidrolyse cellulose and lignin has been assessed under condition of increasing spesific cellulolitic enzyme activity in a attempt to accelerate the composting process and produce a compact quality that will improve soil fertility. The waste was obtained from the Kedawung Sugar Factory in Pasuruan. The research was carried out in 3 steps i.e., isolation of the microorganisms, laboratory testing and application in the field. Hans media was used for bacteria growth, Asparagine media for fungus growth and Kent Knight media for actinomycetes growth. They were isolated and only 12 microorganisms of the isolates were used for hydrolysis of cellulose and lignin, and from them two best bacteria Celvibrio speciosa BA 4 and BA 9 were used, from the two best fungus of Aspergillus niger FA 20 and FA 22 were used, and actinomycetes Thermonospora curvata AA 0 and AA 13 wee obtained from the hydrolycing cellulose and lignin. Using a Factorial Completely Randomized Design, with 3 repetations, a Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design, with 3 repetation was used for the field application.
