Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of spinach(Amaranthus tricolor 1.) extract on consentration of MDA plasma and GSH-Px activity in Rattus norvegicus strain wistar induced by cigarette smoke. Background of this study are oxidative stress promote many diseases, cigarette smoke caused oxidative stress and these process were inhibited by antoxidant system. Spinach(Amaranthus tricolor I.) contained many antoxidant like B-karoten, and ascorbat acid. This research is an experimental study, using Extended Randomised Postest Only Control Design. There were five groups in this study. Group 1 was positive control that was exposed by cigarette smoke and receiving spinach extract. Group 2 was negative control that wasn't exposed cigarette smoke and receiving spinach extract either.
