Abstract

Health insurance (Jamkesmas) is a government program to fulfill the rights of healthy life for the poor. Implementation and documentation of quality nursing care to Jamkesmas patients are considered less well than that to non Jamkesmas patients.. Therefore, the author studied the differences in the performance of nurses documenting nursing care to Jamkesmas and non Jamkesmas patients in Pediatric Ward, Dr. H. Slamet Martodirdjo Hospital, Pamekasan. This study used comparative method by comparing the difference in the performance of nurses in the documentation of nursing care to Jamkesmas and non Jamkesmas patients. Samples were obtained using purposive sampling. Data were collected with observation procedures and analyzed using SPSS 16.0 program. The hypotheses were tested using Mann Whitney u-test with a significance level of 5%. Results of analysis of data obtained significance value higher than 0.05. It confirms that there was no difference in the performance of nurses in documenting nursing care to Jamkesmas and non Jamkesmas patients. The results of this study showed no difference in the performance of nurses documenting nursing care to Jamkesmas and non Jamkesmas patients. This suggests there are other factors that contributed to the negative stigma of Jamkesmas patient care. Further research is required to compare the performance of nurses to Jamkesmas and non Jamkesmas patients from the aspect of caring behavior and compliance with standards of nursing actions operational procedures.
