Abstract
Students with their activities and bustle are required to have a good physical fitness in order to not disrupt their daily activities. Some sources say that sport, is one ways to improve fitness. One of popular sports lately and
good for fitness is Taekwondo. This study is expected to be able to describe the fitness level of students with Taekwondo sport at Airlangga University briefly and clearly.
This is a descriptive research with evaluation study design. Samples were taken from students of Airlangga University who are members of the UKM Taekwondo UNAIR using purposive sampling method. From that, it is obtained 20 respondents. Fitness can be measured by looking at the Harvard Step Test, 15 minutes run test, and measurement of the vital signs for each respondent.
As a result, there is relationship between fitness level in students with Taekwondo sport at Airlangga University. Majority of the respondents showed a good fitness level indicated by VO2 max, fitness index, also vital signs involve heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
From the result of the research, it can be concluded that the physical fitness of students with Taekwondo sport at Airlangga University are in a good level. This research found that Taekwondo training provides fitness
benefit to its members. Further research is expected to be able to explain the short-term effects of practicing Taekwondo for its members with different and larger respondents
